This amendment allows judges to impose harsher penalties for hate crimes that occur in national parks and on other federal property.

Almost immediately, many LGBTQ+ People of Color raise concerns that this will only increase the criminalization and incarceration of People of Color and that it will perpetuate the harm of carceral punishment, as opposed to changing the culture of violence.
