Before the ban, Monsanto produced 99% of all polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) used in the U.S. at a single Illinois plant.

While new production is banned, the chemical continues to circulate in the environment and food chain. PCBs have been proven to have multiple negative health and environmental impacts.
