Charles Murray and Richard J. Herrnstein publish The Bell Curve, which defines Black people's intelligence as being "inferior" to white and Asian people. They manipulate data to claim that Black people's perceived lack of intelligence is "fixed and biologically rooted" (Siegel, 2017).

The book is widely publicized by the media, and is distributed nationwide.
