By 1956, Liberia, South Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia, Libya, Sudan, Morocco, Tunisia, and Morocco have gained independence from colonial rule.

Throughout this period, relationships between African-American revolutionaries and African revolutionaries shape each other's liberation struggles. In particular, the Algerian Independence Movement and the Mau Mau Revolt, with prominent leaders, such as Jomo Kenyatta in Kenya, making a strong impact on Black high school and college-aged students in the U.S.
