A California sperm bank, the Repository for Germinal Choice, focuses on population engineering through exclusive sperm donation protocols that prioritize obtaining specimens from donors who are high-achieving academics and scientists.

The founder's intent is to track the children born of these donors and assess their intelligence, but parents will largely lose interest in participating once their child is born. The bank will close in 1999.
