Xenotransplantation is the transplantation of nonhuman organs and cells into humans. "Baby Fae" receives a baboon heart transplant in 1984. She dies soon after, but hundreds of more infants will receive nonhuman hearts in the coming years–some of whom made it into adulthood and are still alive today.

In 2007, xenotransplantation will be banned under ethical grounds in all countries except Argentina, Russia, and New Zealand. Multiple medical researchers continue to push against this ban today.
