The timeline can be navigated with the “Scroll Left” and “Scroll Right” buttons or by dragging the pointer to a date on the timeline waveform (located at the bottom of the screen on the desktop version and on the left of the screen on mobile). To filter by a particular topic and see a smaller section of the data, make a selection on the dropdown “Filters” menu or click “Search” to do a keyword search. Hover over the abbreviated filter tags in the blue boxes to see the complete name of the filter, or click a filter to display all the data with this tag. Different forms of "irregular" medicine begin to emerge.

At this point, Western medicine is mostly focused on blood-letting, vomiting/purging, and a range of chemical interventions, such as calomel, which uses mercury to purge the body–resulting in a range of other toxic harms. "Irregular" medicines are treatments that attempt to provide care through other means, particularly those that don't cause harm on the way to providing a cure. Additionally, the unceasing waves of yellow fever epidemics lead many to look for "alternative" forms of treatment. Many of these different forms that begin to emerge are regional and are centered around specific teachers in specific areas.
