Dewey's is an important hangout for African-American LGBTQ+ youth in Philadelphia. Claiming that queer customers are driving away business, Dewey's refuses to serve patrons dressed in "nonconformist" clothing.

A series of pickets and protests results in Dewey's ending their policy and opening again for business.
