The perpetua servitus iudaeorum means the “perpetual servitude of Jews” and states that Jewish people must remain in “perpetual servitude" and "abject humiliation” until the end of time. This mandate will last until the 19th century when it will be repealed, but over those 700 years, various expressions of this law will be established in Catholic doctrine. This is one of the first times that the Catholic leadership targets an entire group of people as being destined for a particular existence as a result of their birth.
